As the Founder-Chairman of the RICE Group, Prof. (Dr.) Samit Ray is a pioneer in professional training for government job competitive examinations in Eastern India. In the early 1980s, he established a modest government exam coaching institute dedicated to preparing students for various state and central government services. His visionary approach led to the creation of the RICE Methodology, a comprehensive system designed to equip students with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in their chosen fields.
Beyond RICE Education, Prof. Ray’s contributions to the educational landscape include founding the Adamas International School in 2004, introducing the innovative concept of combining day boarding with traditional day schooling. His dedication to holistic education culminated in the establishment of the Adamas Knowledge City at Barasat, a “City within the City” that encompasses institutions such as Adamas University, Adamas World School, and the Adamas Institute of Professional Studies. Serving as the Founder Chancellor of Adamas University, Prof. Ray continues to inspire countless students across the region.
His philanthropic endeavors are evident through the creation of two charitable trusts: the Sachis Kiran Memorial Trust, named in honor of his late father, and the Samit Ray Foundation, both aimed at supporting educational initiatives and community development. Prof. Ray’s dedication to education and societal advancement has been recognized through numerous national and international awards, solidifying his status as a beacon of inspiration for students pursuing government careers.
Joining RICE Education in September 2020 as the Group CEO, Chandan Majumdar brings a diverse background in finance, marketing, sales, and operations. A professional accountant by education, he spent over two decades with the ABP Group, one of India’s largest media conglomerates, holding leadership positions since 2004. From 2015 to 2020, he served as a member of the Board of Directors of ABP Pvt Ltd, contributing significantly to the company’s strategic direction.
At RICE Education, Mr. Majumdar’s mission is to transform the institution into a national EduTech leader, enhancing the accessibility and effectiveness of government exam preparation through technological innovation.
