This update, published on August 20, 2024, follows their earlier notification No. 361-PAR(WBCS)/1D-179/21 dated March 15, 2023. It’s important to note that the WBCS 2024 Exam will adhere to the old syllabus, so candidates preparing for the 2024 Prelims and Mains should continue studying according to the previous guidelines.

In this page, we will discuss in detail the differences between the old and new exam patterns, highlighting the key changes and how they will impact your preparation for the WBCS 2025 Examination. Let us take a look at the specifics of the WBCS Exam 2025 pattern and syllabus to help you understand these updates effectively.

WBCS Exam 2025 Pattern: A Comparative Analysis Between the Old and New Formats

The WBCS Exam 2025 is set to bring about substantial changes in its structure, making it crucial for aspirants to understand the differences between the old and new exam patterns. Before we delve into the new format, take a look at the previous pattern that governed the WBCS exam until 2024. The old pattern consisted of a single paper in the Preliminary Examination and six compulsory papers in the Main Examination, including an optional subject with two papers. This structure was designed to test a wide range of subjects, from General Studies to specific language skills and reasoning abilities.
However, with the introduction of the WBCS Exam 2025, the focus has shifted towards a more streamlined and skill-oriented approach, reflected in the revised exam structure. RICE Education, a pioneer in government job examinations coaching, is fully aligned with these changes in the WBCS Exam 2025 pattern and syllabus and is prepared to guide aspirants through this transition.
