Public Service Commission, West Bengal conducts the Miscellaneous Services Recruitment Examination to recruit candidates for various posts. It takes place annually or when the Commission announces the date. The Miscellaneous exam is a 3-stage examination - Preliminary, Final, and Personality Test.

The candidate must have a graduate degree from any recognised University or its equivalent as per the Miscellaneous 2019 notification educational qualification criteria. Additionally, the aspirant should have the ability to read, write and speak in Bengali (not required for those whose mother tongue is Nepali).

The WBPSC Miscellaneous salary is same for all the posts covered under this examination. WBPSC Miscellaneous 2019 pay scale was Rs. 7,100 - 37,600/- + Grade Pay of Rs. 3,900/- (or 3,600/-0).

According to the last notification released by the Commission for Miscellaneous 2019 Exam, the age of the candidates should be not below 20 years but not more than 39 years on 01.01.2019.


Concession in age S.C. & S.T. candidates can get an age relaxation of 5 years and B.C. (Non-creamy layer) candidates are eligible for 3 year age relaxation. In the case of Persons with Disabilities (PWD), the upper age limit is 45 years. S.C./S.T./B.C. candidates of other States shall be treated as general candidates and no relaxation is applicable for them.

  • Date of birth as recorded only in the Madhyamik or equivalent certificate, will be accepted.
  • The age limits apply to all the candidates whether in Government service or not.

The highest in WBPSC Services is of Group A and Group B officers.
