RBI Grade B Examination 2023: Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must meet the stated prerequisites in order to be eligible for the RBI Grade B Exam. It is imperative for candidates to thoroughly examine the detailed eligibility criteria before proceeding with the application form.

  • The candidate must possess Indian citizenship.
  • The candidate should be a citizen of Nepal or Bhutan.

Educational Qualifications

(a) Officers in Grade ‘B’ (DR)–(General):

For Officers in Grade ‘B’ (DR) – General category, the eligibility criteria are as follows:

  • Bachelor’s degree: A minimum of 60% marks or an equivalent grade.
  • 12th (or Diploma or equivalent) examination: Minimum 60% marks or an equivalent grade.
  • 10th Standard examination: Minimum 60% marks or an equivalent grade.
  • Candidates belonging to SC/ST/PwBD categories have a relaxation of 10%, requiring a minimum of 50% marks or an equivalent grade in each category.
  • The minimum required percentage or equivalent grade for the Bachelor’s degree will be determined by considering the overall performance throughout all semesters/years.

(b) Officers in Grade ‘B’ (DR)–DEPR:

  • A Master’s Degree in Economics/ Econometrics/ Quantitative Economics/Mathematical Economics/Integrated Economics Course, or Finance from a recognized Indian or Foreign University/Institute, with a minimum of 55% marks or an equivalent grade in aggregate of all semesters/years.
  • Alternatively, candidates with a PGDM/MBA in Finance from a recognized Indian or Foreign University/Institute, with a minimum of 55% marks or an equivalent grade in aggregate of all semesters/years, are eligible.
  • Candidates with a Master’s Degree in Economics specializing in any sub-category of economics, such as agricultural, business, developmental, applied, etc., from a recognized Indian or Foreign University/Institute, with Candidates who have achieved a minimum of 55% marks or an equivalent grade in the overall performance across all semesters/years are also eligible.
  • Please note that the aforementioned qualifications should have a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent grade in aggregate of all semesters/years.

(c) Officers in Grade ‘B’ (DR)–DSIM

  • Hold a Master’s Degree in Statistics/ Mathematical Statistics/ Mathematical Economics/ Econometrics/ or Statistics & Informatics from IIT-Kharagpur or Applied Statistics & Informatics from IIT-Bombay, with a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent grade (overall performance).
  • Possess an M. Stat. Completion of a program at the Indian Statistical Institute with a minimum overall performance score of 55%.
  • A Master’s Degree in Mathematics with a minimum of 55% marks or an equivalent grade (overall performance) in the combined result of all semesters/years.
  • Furthermore, they should have obtained a postgraduate diploma in Statistics or a related field from a well-regarded Institute.
  • Have completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Analytics (PGDBA) offered jointly by ISI Kolkata, IIT Kharagpur, and IIM Calcutta, with a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent grade (overall performance).

RBI Grade B Recruitment 2023: Salary Structure

Candidates selected for the Officer post through the RBI Grade B 2023 Exam will receive an annual salary ranging from Rs. 12 to Rs. 14 Lac. The Exact Pay Scale for RBI Grade B Officer is structured as follows: Rs 55,200-2850(9)-80850-EB-2850(2)-86550-3300(4)-99750. Initially, candidates will have a Basic Pay of Rs. 55,200/- with an increment of Rs. 2850/- for the first nine years of their service.

Upon completing the initial nine years, officers will progress to the executive band, resulting in an increment of the basic pay to Rs. 80,850/-. Subsequently, there will be additional increments of Rs. 2850/- for the following two years and Rs. 3300/- for the subsequent four years. Ultimately, the basic pay will reach Rs. 99,750/-. It is worth noting that these increments occur even without any promotions.

In addition to the Basic Pay, various allowances such as Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance, Family Allowance, Telephone Allowance, Conveyance Allowance, and more are provided to candidates upon joining the Officer post in RBI.
