W.B.C.S is popularly known to be the most prestigious examination in West Bengal state. W.B.C.S is the exam name  abbreviation of West Bengal Civil Service exam. The WBCS exam is conducted each year in order to recruit the civil services officers for the West Bengal Provincial Civil Services. The Public Service Commission of West Bengal or PSCWB is the state agency authorized to conduct the Civil Services Examination for entry-level appointments to the various Civil Services of the state of West Bengal in India. The PSCWB arranges all WBCS competitive examinations in three phases every year. These phases are Preliminary, Mains and Personality Test.

The commission recruits for groups A, B, C and D and various posts under these groups. For the West Bengal Police Vacancies, the age limit is 20-36 years. For all other job vacancies, the aspirants applying to sit for the examination must be above the age of 21 years and below age of 36 years. Candidates would be selected based on their performance in  various stages of the evaluation process i.e Preliminary Examination (Objective Type), Main Examination (Conventional Type-Written) and Personality Test (one to one interaction).

The WBCS Recruitment 2022 is being conducted to place candidates in various government official designations which require certain educational qualifications for the candidates to be able to perform their duties. The educational WBCS qualifications for the WBCS Vacancy 2022 are discussed below:

  1. A degree from a recognized University of India.
  2. Ability to read, write, and speak in the Bengali language.
  3. Candidates having Nepali mother tongue are exempted from the above (pt 2).
  4. Well-versed with the national and international current events
