FAQs

Ideally, the time required to prepare for UPSC exams is 10 to 12 months. There have also been a number of candidates who have cleared the examination in 6 months.
There is no such thing as the appropriate moment to prepare; rather, the question should be when the best time to begin planning is. Some candidates begin studying for the Civil Services straight after high school, while others begin only one year before the examination. However, the best time to start preparing for the IAS Examination is in the final few years of your bachelor's degree.
Coaching should be viewed as a guiding companion who assists you in reaching your goals faster. Given the extensive nature of this exam's syllabus, it is unquestionably advantageous to join an IAS Coaching.
Many aspirants make attempt after attempt but fail to analyse and realise their mistakes. The purpose of a test series is to make one aware of their mistakes before the actual examination. Remember that the person who bleeds the most during practise is the one who bleeds the least during conflict. RICE IAS is the only IAS coaching institute in India that offers free prelims and mains test series to its students. Our students receive free interview preparation as well.

IAS - A Cherished Career

Prof.(Dr.) Samit Ray, Chairman of Rice Group and Chancellor of Adamas University
Mr. Kailesh Mishra, Director Destination IAS Academy

The Tie-up – It's Backdrop

Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS) and other prestigious Central Govt Services, the recruitment to which is done through UPSC Civil Service Examination every year, are the most coveted jobs in the country. These services offer the best scope to the youth of India to serve the poorest of the poor and ordinary citizens of the country while playing, at the same time, an effective role to take the country forward on the path to progress and development.

RICE Education trains the IAS aspirants in a way that leads to holistic development of the candidates while toughening them up to face the rigours in their actual arenas of work. The methodology of teaching in RICE Education is such that things are made easy for the students. Emphasis is laid not on rote learning but on quick assimilation of facts by applying novel methods. The idea is to make the students think and comprehend every single aspect of the vast syllabus of the examination so that they can write cogently when they actually face the test. While in any kindred institute the Civil Services Examination is projected as a difficult barrier to surmount, the scientific approach adopted in the teaching-learning process in RICE education makes it an effortless sailing for the young aspirants that throng for admission in RICE Education.

Destination IAS Academy, Delhi has been training the next-gen IAS officers for about 23 years now. One of the most reputed IAS institutes of the capital, located in Mukherji Nagar, Destination IAS have on their roll senior and retired officers of the government besides having youthful but experienced faculty who are mavens in their own fields. They chart their course of training students in an innovative way, backed up by research and strategy formulations. Their success figures are mindboggling – more than 500 candidates have been selected for government jobs so far, capped by top rank holders featuring in IAS proper every year.

About UPSC Civil Services

IAS, IPS and other Central Services that come under the UPSC Civil Services examination are the most coveted services of India.

More than ten lakhs of students every year vie for just 800 – 900 jobs under different services.
Only the first 200 rank holders or so can hope to get into the cream of the services – Indian Administrative Service, Indian Police Service and Indian Foreign Service.

The career of an IAS or IPS officer is most challenging. They are the pivots around which the administration of the country revolves. They hold important positions all through starting their career as Sub-Divisional Officer to gradually move up to Additional District Magistrate, District Magistrate, Joint Secretary, Special Secretary, Secretary, Principal Secretary, Additional Chief Secretary and finally to the highest administrative post in a state which is Chief Secretary.
A certain section of them are brought to various ministries of Govt of India as Joint Secretary where at the fag end of their career they hold such important portfolios as Home Secretary, Defense Secretary, Finance Secretary, Foreign Secretary and so on.

In such positions they look after the affairs of the entire nation ensuring, at the same time, the safety and security of the nation. The highest administrative post at the Govt of India level is Cabinet Secretary.

The preparation of IAS is long, hard and tenuous. The students have to fully devote to studies for at least 2 years to come out with flying colors in the Civil Services Examination. One has to keep oneself abreast of what is happening around – the world in general and the country in particular. Apart from studies, the student must develop good writing ability and be able to organize their thoughts while answering a question so that they can convince the examiner that they have written only a precise, to the point and within the given word limit answer to secure good marks.
